Growing Forward is a two-hour, field trip-based K-2 agriculture education program during which students move through stations on the farm learning about food production, soil science, composting, vermicomposting, nutrition, and whole grains. Kids will spend time on the farm doing "farm chores" (planting, harvesting, watering, etc.), participate in a vegetable "scavenger hunt" (veggie ID) on the farm, learn about the wonderful world of worms, feed the chickens, learn about the importance of eating whole grains, milk Gerdie our mechanical milking cow while learning about calcium and protein, and enjoy one or more healthy farm-fresh snacks.
